O tempo de Tom Riddle em Hogwarts (1939 - 1946)

Assumindo que podemos confiar no diário de Tom Riddle, vemos que Dumbledore foi o professor de Transfiguração durante seu tempo lá.

"Only the Transfiguration teacher, Dumbledore, seemed to think Hagrid was innocent. He persuaded Dippet to keep Hagrid and train him as gamekeeper. Yes, I think Dumbledore might have guessed…Dumbledore never seemed to like me as much as the other teachers did..."

Por alguma especulação, já que, até onde sei, não temos nenhuma informação concreta sobre por que Dumbledore mudou os papéis de professor. Ele inicialmente começou como professor de Transfiguração durante o tempo de Minerva em Hogwarts, uma vez que ela se juntou ao time, ele sentiu como se pudesse "assumir" dele e assim se mudou para ser o professor de Defesa Contra as Artes das Trevas. Em algum momento durante a série Fantastic Beasts ele não pode mais ensinar isso ... talvez ele não tenha sido reintegrado no final do TCoG. Neste ponto, ele volta a ensinar a Transfiguração, pois é de onde ele veio.

Eu também vi especulações de que Dumbledore poderia ter sido um professor substituto durante esses flashbacks e o dia de hoje no TCoG, mas vendo como isso acontece em ambos os casos durante o filme eu diria que ele realmente era o professor de DCAT.

Vale a pena notar que Jude Law confirmou em entrevista à Entertainment Weekly que ele não ensina a Transfiguração durante o filme e, portanto, a teoria dele ser um professor substituto parece improvável.
