When I wrote "Foundation," which appeared in the May 1942 issue of Astounding Science Faction, I had no idea that I had begun a series of stories that would eventually grow into six volumes and a total of 650,000 words (so far). Desde que "Foundation and Earth" (1983) foi escrito depois de "The Gods Mesmos" (1972), acho que esta é provavelmente uma boa evidência contra "Os Deuses Mesmos" sendo planejados como parte da série.

Os deuses mesmos estão claramente separados das outras obras de Asimov (bem, isso e "Gold" ). Eu não tenho uma referência definitiva, mas eu não acho que Asimov considerasse seriamente fazer parte de seu universo principal.
