Mais adiante, no mesmo artigo, ele descreve a nave como sendo "A caminho do próximo alvo", quando eles encontram a tempestade de asteróides que resume tudo, então eu presumo que eles estejam trabalhando a partir de dados transmitidos ou de uma lista preparada.
Houve um pouco mais de exposição no roteiro original do filme. Em suma, a Estrela Negra (e outros navios da mesma classe) eram navios exploradores encarregados de identificar "mundos desonestos" que tinham o potencial de interferir em futuros esforços de colonização.
