"Don't get fantastic," snorted the scientist.
Claro que, sendo esta uma história de ficção científica, os computadores estão conscientes. A maior parte da história é contada do ponto de vista do bispo do rei negro:

"Checkmate," said the scientist. "That game's over."
He crossed the room to the switchboard and turned off the computers.
Assim, temos guerreiros medievais lutando em um campo de batalha microcósmico e, no final, a perspectiva muda para os cientistas observadores. Essa parte corresponde.
