Eu li este livro uma vez quando adolescente, acho que ele pode ter sido escrito nos 1970s, mas pode ser o 1960s atrasado ou o 1980s inicial.

O protagonista é deixado para morrer horrivelmente pelos inimigos. Ele está paralisado e deixado em algum planeta (não acredito que fosse terra) no habitat de algum tipo de criatura parecida com um crocodilo, que o injeta com seus filhotes, e retorna periodicamente para forçar nutrientes e um agente paralítico em sua garganta, como as larvas crescem dentro dele.

Ele é resgatado e seu corpo reconstruído para algum tipo de habilidade sobre-humana, mas está traumatizado e inclinado a se vingar indiscriminadamente por seu sofrimento. Ele prova difícil de derrotar.

Ele acaba sendo derrotado por truques, quando é mostrado (ou exige ver) algo por algum tipo de link de vídeo ou TV / monitor remoto - talvez lhe digam que as pessoas que ele quer vingança são mantidas em cativeiro por ele, eu posso ' não tenha certeza.

Acho que talvez ele faça reféns ou faça uma ameaça grave, e suas demandas se relacionam com as pessoas que ele deseja vingar. Mas ele não pode ser fisicamente alcançado, então o que pode ser feito? Eles criam um feed de vídeo, para negociar ou, mais provavelmente, para mostrar a ele que têm o que (ou quem) ele quer, e ele parece ver.
