Beren foi profetizado

Beren deve ser considerado um dos maiores homens a ter agraciado a Terra-média. Especialmente considerando seus feitos mais tarde na vida.

Enquanto Beren está sendo caçado pelo exército de Sauron após ter uma recompensa colocada em sua cabeça, Thingol declara que nenhum homem deve entrar em Doriath, nem mesmo o da Casa de Bëor

'Into Doriath shall no Man come while my realm lasts, not even those of the house of Bëor who serve Finrod the beloved.' Melian said nothing to him at that time, but afterwards she said to Galadriel: 'Now the world runs on swiftly to great tidings. And one of Men, even of Beor's house, shall indeed come, and the Girdle of Melian shall not restrain him, for doom geater than my power shall send him; and the songs that shall spring from that coming shall endure when all Middlle-earth is changed.'

O destino de Beren estava diretamente ligado ao das Silmarils. Foi a recompensa e fugindo do exército de Sauron que o levou a Doriath para encontrar Luthien. Devemos lembrar que o Cinturão de Melian era impenetrável, e somente através de grande necessidade ou desespero (como o de Beren) pode-se passar por ele, somente quando a desgraça é maior que o poder de Melian a Maia para mantê-los fora. Melian fala de canções a serem cantadas sobre Beren muito depois que a Terra-média foi modificada (possivelmente prevendo a destruição de Beleriand e a criação de Númenor)

Beren era famoso durante seu tempo como um fora da lei e muito temido.

A necessidade de Morgoth é evidentemente grande se ele enviar um exército depois de um solitário fora-da-lei. As ameaças colocadas por Beren e o medo instilado nos orcs deram a Morgoth grande necessidade de dispor dele, estabelecendo o mesmo preço (ou possivelmente maior) do que ele havia estabelecido para o Alto Rei dos Noldor.

No anterior não terminado Lay of Leithian , cuja escrita foi praticamente abandonada em 1931, temos outra sugestão da recompensa de Morgoth e da ameaça Beren, e nesta ocasião seus companheiros, posaram em Morgoth e seus orcs.

no soldier could to Morgoth bring

Desta vez, parece que por causa da proeza da banda de doze em Dorthonion Morgoth foi forçado a colocar uma recompensa em cada chefe da banda, mas ninguém foi capaz de descobrir seu paradeiro até a traição de Gorlim, o Infeliz, um dos Outlaws.

Morgoth deve ter ouvido o suficiente sobre Beren para garantir uma recompensa tão alta, dado que eles nunca se encontraram, mas havia pelo menos mitos e lendas sobre Beren na época.

Beren esteve escondido por muito tempo, 4 anos. Durante esse tempo ele evitou os servos de Morgoth e eles pulavam em vez de se aproximarem de Beren neste momento, então definitivamente há algo digno de nota sobre Beren. Beren também era "amigável" com as coisas naturais da terra, talvez ele parecesse maior do que ele.

Morgoth tinha uma noção da importância de Beren

Do poder narrativo e oculto de Beren, Tolkien escreve:

...the first example of the motive (to become dominant in Hobbits) that the great policies of world history, 'the wheels of the world', are often turned not by the Lords and Governors, even gods, but by the seemingly unknown and weak – owing to the secret life in creation, and the part unknowable to all wisdom but One, that resides in the intrusions of the Children of God into the Drama. It is Beren the outlawed mortal who succeeds (with the help of Lúthien, a mere maiden even if an elf of royalty) where all the armies and warriors have failed: he penetrates the stronghold of the Enemy and wrests one of the Silmarilli from the Iron Crown. Thus he wins the hand of Lúthien and the first marriage of mortal and immortal is achieved.

Melkor foi, antes de ser corrompido em Morgoth, o principal entre os Valar, ele era o mais ligado a Eru e era supremamente "poderoso" e perspicaz. Ele pode ter sentido o poder e o perigo em Beren antes mesmo dos acontecimentos que transformaram Beren no "One-hand". Assim, ele pode ter definido esse alto preço para ter certeza.
