A profecia já era rotulada como sendo sobre o Lorde das Trevas e Harry, embora houvesse um ponto de interrogação pelo nome de Harry, porque a profecia não era específica quando foi feita.

Existem essencialmente duas possibilidades: 1) É um processo mágico automático. 2) É um processo manual.

Processo manual

Se for um processo manual, quem quer que esteja executando o processo, presumivelmente, escolhe quem terá a capacidade de recuperá-lo. Nesse caso, há várias possibilidades. Quando a profecia foi feita pela primeira vez, a segunda pessoa a quem se referia era desconhecida, de modo que seria impossível incluí-lo na "lista de permissões". Uma vez que Harry e Neville nasceram, é possível que o cara tenha adicionado os dois ou é possível que ele não tenha acrescentado nenhum deles, pois ele ainda não sabia a quem era mencionado.

Uma vez que Voldemort atacou Harry, é possível que ele tenha adicionado Harry sob a suposição de que Harry deve ser aquele a quem a profecia se refere se Voldemort o atacar. De fato, isso é o que Dumbledore no capítulo trinta e sete da Ordem da Fênix disse que aconteceu com o rótulo da profecia:

É possível que ele tenha adicionado Harry e Neville automaticamente quando eles nasceram, ou é possível que ele tenha adicionado Harry depois que Voldemort o atacou.

Não sabemos

Em ambos os casos, é possível que Neville tenha sido adicionado e é possível que Neville não tenha sido adicionado. Também é possível que, mesmo depois de Voldemort atacar Harry, a profecia ainda pudesse se referir a Neville. O fato de que Voldemort atacou Harry não significa que ele também não poderia atacar Neville (especialmente se, como Dumbledore afirma ¹ , existem muitas profecias que nunca foram cumpridas). “He chose the boy he thought most likely to be a danger to him,” said Dumbledore.

Como assinalei acima, isso não é necessariamente um argumento convincente. É possível que a pessoa ou processo encarregado de proteger as profecias não concordasse que certamente se referia a Harry.
