He accepts that he must die, and understands that there are far, far worse things in the living world than dying.’

Eu também não estou convencido de que a Pedra pode trazer de volta os mortos - temporariamente ou de outra forma. Se tomarmos o Véu no Ministério para ser um indicador, então uma vez que uma pessoa esteja morta - eles estão mortos. Assim, eu acho que a Pedra não traz os mortos de volta - simplesmente evoca um espectro das memórias de uma pessoa (veja também esta resposta em SFF , e os vinculados). What is more, Beedle’s story is quite explicit about the fact that the second brother’s lost love has not really returned from the dead. She has been sent by Death to lure the second brother into Death’s clutches, and is therefore cold, remote, tantalizingly both present and absent.

Eu acho que é claro que a postura autoral sobre a ressurreição é que ela não funciona em nenhum sentido, significando que os mortos não podem se comunicar com os vivos de forma alguma. Note que isto não contradiz a existência de fantasmas, que são pessoas reais, porque eles não estão completamente mortos em primeiro lugar.
É também bastante simbólico que Harry possuísse a Capa da Invisibilidade, que originalmente pertencia ao mais humilde e mais sábio dos três irmãos.
And then Death asked the third and youngest brother what he would like. The youngest brother was the humblest and also the wisest of the brothers, and he did not trust Death. Humildade é uma característica muito importante do personagem de Harry, e foi em grande parte uma conseqüência da decisão de Dumbledore de fazer Harry crescer com Dursleys. É por isso que o Pomo tinha "Eu abro de perto" inscrito nele e abriu quando Harry disse "Estou prestes a morrer" - Harry teve que desistir de sua vida por vontade própria.
