Eu não acho que os magos necessitem que as varinhas apareçam. Existem numerosos exemplos de magia em geral sendo lançados sem uma varinha (o lançamento de Arresto Momentum em POA por Dumbledore, o cara no PS no caldeirão com vazamento que faz a colher mexer) mesmo que a aparição não seja vista explicitamente.

Dado que sabemos que a magia sem varinha é possível, parece-me que a única barreira seria o nível de poder da bruxa / bruxo em geral. É lógico supor que a magia sem varinha seria ainda mais difícil do que a mágica não verbal que a maioria não pode fazer. Dado isso, e que a aparição requer um nível relativamente alto de poder, acho que é possível, mas também improvável que alguns dos personagens mais poderosos (Dumbledore, Voldemort, Bellatrix, McGonagall, etc) tenham sido capazes de realizar aparição sem varinha.

Os magos não precisam de varinhas para aparatar, é como usar o pó de floo para viajar, você não precisa de nenhuma varinha, assim como há alguns feitiços não-verbais, como ilustrado em Harry Potter e o meio-sangue Prince
