Apesar de não terminar em 1x1, o Melkor vs Ungoliant teve um breve 1x1. Melkor era um Vala e, portanto, mais strong que um Balrog que é apenas um Maia caído, e no ponto de sua batalha, Melkor tinha medo de quanto poder Ungoliant tinha, a ponto de convocar seus Balrogs com seus gritos. Nenhum deles ganhou uma vitória, Melkor foi ferido e Ungoliant fugiu, mas não há muitas entidades mais poderosas do que aquelas em Arda.

Therefore that region was called Lammoth; for the echoes of the voice dwelt there ever after, so that any who cried aloud in that land awoke them, and all the waste between the hills and the sea was filled with clamour as of voices in anguish. The cry of Morgoth in that hour was the greatest and most dreadful that was ever heard in the northern world; the mountains shook, and the earth trembled, and rocks were riven asunder.
