Muito pouco foi escrito sobre os Vanyar , então não nos é dito explicitamente que qualidades Manwë admirava neles .

Se eu tivesse que adivinhar, eu sugeriria que eles eram os mais próximos dos Elfos de Arda Unmarred, o resultado hipotético de uma Música dos Ainur não interrompida pela discordância de Melkor. Foi-nos dito algumas vezes em O Silmarillion que Manwë era o mais afinado com a vontade de Ilúvatar; por exemplo:

Os Vanyar exibem algumas qualidades que se alinhariam com essa visão de mundo:
