Idade

Como não há referência no programa, pode-se apenas supor que eles têm a mesma idade que os atores:

• Sherlock, em 19 de julho de 1976
• Mycroft : 44 em S1 (Mark Gatiss, nascido em 17 de outubro de 1966)

Se você está indo com o cânone, no entanto:

• Sherlock : 27 em S1 (em His Last Bow , que é ambientado em 1914 Sherlock é descrito como "Ele era alto, homem magro de sessenta anos, com características claras ", então ele deve nascer por volta de 1854 e se conhecera com Watson em 1881)
• Mycroft : 34 em S1 (Em O Interprete Grego Holmes diz a Watson que Mycroft é "Sete anos [seu] sênior" )

Família

Como apontado antes do show faz uma referência a "outro". Portanto, há uma possibilidade de que haja outro irmão de Holmes. Mas no final do S3, só podemos adivinhar.

De acordo com os romances A.C.D. escreveu, não há outro irmão mencionado. Mas uma possível explicação que há pode ser um, é dada aqui :

Holmes once stated that his family were country squires, which means that the eldest brother would have to stay to manage the house. If Mycroft were the eldest then he couldn't play the role he does in four stories of the Sherlock Holmes canon, so Sherrinford frees them both. This position is strengthened by the fact that Mycroft's general position as a senior civil servant was a common choice among the younger sons of the gentry.

Como a série acontece no século 21, não há necessidade de o irmão mais velho administrar a casa. Isso só nos leva a adivinhar;)

Embora nunca tenha havido uma menção direta sobre a idade de Sherlock ou Mycroft, mas no episódio The Empty Hearse, há uma ligeira referência.

SHERLOCK: I didn’t know you spoke Serbian.

MYCROFT: I didn’t, but the language has a Slavic root, frequent Turkish and German loan words. (He shrugs.) Took me a couple of hours.

SHERLOCK: Hmm – you’re slipping.

MYCROFT (smiling tightly): Middle age, brother mine. Comes to us all.

Em relação ao terceiro irmão de Holmes, nada ficou claro ainda. Espero que as próximas estações revelem o mistério.

JOHN: So there were three Holmes kids. What was the age gap?

MYCROFT: Seven years between myself and Sherlock, one year between Sherlock and Eurus.

JOHN: Middle child. Explains a lot.

Então, em resumo (mais spoilers):

Mycroft is eldest by seven years, then Sherlock, then a sister Eurus - whose life is a dark family secret kept by Mycroft - a year younger than Sherlock. The actual age of any of the siblings is never stated.
