Gimli atacando o Anel é uma invenção dos filmes. Isso não acontece na atual Sociedade do Anel . É uma cena boba nos filmes, provavelmente lá para ilustrar que o Anel não pode ser destruído, exceto nos incêndios do Monte da Perdição.

Em qualquer caso, Gimli não estava em contato próximo com o Anel, nem era seu guardião como Frodo, então não poderia ter exercido muita influência sobre o anão. Considere que Frodo manteve o Anel por algum tempo antes de embarcar na aventura dos livros.

Gimli tentando destruir o Anel depois de estar perto dele por algum tempo, como parte da Irmandade, teria sido mais surpreendente.

Gimli não gastou tempo suficiente com o único anel para considerá-lo precioso e o único anel nunca esteve em perigo.
