O que é um teste de sete?

É uma tradição Andal que favorece os bem conectados

O julgamento de Seven é melhor descrito em The Hedge Knight depois de uma disputa entre o Príncipe Aerion Targaryen e Sor Duncan o alto. Em vez daquele em um de julgamento por combate, consiste em sete campeões que lutam de cada lado. É uma tradição de Andal que homenageia os sete, visto como mais provável que seja justo.

Dunk was lost. “Your Grace, my lords,” he said to the dais. “I do not understand. What is this trial of seven?”

Prince Baelor shifted uncomfortably in his seat. “It is another form of trial by combat. Ancient, seldom invoked. It came across the narrow sea with the Andals and their seven gods. In any trial by combat, the accuser and accused are asking the gods to decide the issue between them. The Andals believed that if the seven champions fought on each side, the gods, being thus honored, would be more like to take a hand and see that a just result was achieved.”

“Or mayhap they simply had a taste for swordplay,” said Lord Leo Tyrell, a cynical smile touching his lips. “Regardless, Ser Aerion is within his rights. A trial of seven it must be.”

Uma das vantagens estratégicas de escolher essa forma de duelo é que, se você reivindicar, você força o outro a encontrar seis campeões. Se um homem não pode encontrar seis outros para ficar com ele, então ele é culpado.

Six knights, Dunk thought. They might as well have told him to find six thousand. He had no brothers, no cousins, no old comrades who had stood beside him in battle. Why would six strangers risk their own lives to defend a hedge knight against two royal princelings?

“Your Graces, my lords,” he said, “what if no one will take my part?” Maekar Targaryen looked down on him coldly. “If a cause is just, good men will fight for it. If you can find no champions, ser, it will be because you are guilty. Could anything be more plain?”

Outra diferença é que aquele que reivindica o julgamento dos Sete tem que lutar. Mesmo que eu não consiga encontrar essa regra escrita, todas as vezes que foram invocadas (Dunk vs Aerion e Ser Morrigen vs King Maegor ) os desafiantes participam do duelo.

O que é o teste dos sete?

Como já foi dito por Ram, Trial of Seven é outra forma de Trial by Combat. Nele, ambos os defensores e acusadores são divididos em duas equipes de sete homens cada. Eles lutam até que uma das partes se renda ou morra.

Quais são as regras?

Um teste de sete tem as seguintes regras:

1. Todos os participantes devem ser cavaleiros. Sor Steffon Fossoway explicou em The Hedge Knight :

   “Raymun the Reluctant,” mocked his cousin Ser Steffon. An apple made of gold and garnets fastened his cloak of yellow wool. “You need not fear, cousin, this is a knightly combat. As you are no knight, your skin is not at risk. Ser Duncan, you have one Fossoway at least. The ripe one. I saw what Aerion did to those puppeteers. I am for you.”

2. Deve haver sete homens de cada lado. Se uma das partes não conseguir encontrar sete homens, ela será julgada culpada e não há necessidade de realizar um julgamento. Quando Duncan não conseguiu encontrar um sétimo homem para assumir sua causa, ele se ofereceu para lutar contra seis contra sete, mas foi recusado.

   “Six,” said Dunk. “Ser Lyonel is knighting Raymun Fossoway. We will fight you six against seven.”

   Men had won at far worse odds, he knew. But Lord Ashford shook his head. “That is not permitted, ser. If you cannot find another knight to take your side, you must be declared guilty of the crimes of which you stand accused.”

3. Se o acusador morrer ou desistir de suas alegações durante o combate, o julgamento termina e o acusado é inocentado de todas as acusações. Se o réu morrer ou presumivelmente admitir sua culpa, o julgamento termina e o réu é julgado culpado. Caso contrário, o julgamento continua até que todos os membros de uma das partes morram ou se rendam. O príncipe Baelor explicou isso a seus homens durante o julgamento em Ashford:

   “If Ser Duncan is killed, it is considered that the gods have judged him guilty, and the contest is over. If both of his accusers are slain, or withdraw their accusations, the same is true. Else-wise, all seven of one side or the other must perish or yield for the trial to end.”

Quem pode exigir um e quem pode participar?

Somente cavaleiros podem exigir uma Prova de Sete. Quando o Príncipe Aerion exigiu um julgamento por Sete em resposta ao pedido de Duncan por Julgamento por Combate, Lorde Leo Tyrell concordou que "Ser Aerion" (Observe que ele usa Ser, não o Príncipe) estava dentro de seus direitos:

"A trial of seven,” said Prince Aerion, smiling. “That is my right, I do believe".

Como é diferente de um teste normal por combate?

O que significa seu resultado?

Pode haver vários resultados.

1. Se o acusador morre ou retira sua acusação, o réu é inocentado de todas as acusações.
2. Se o réu morre ou confessa sua culpa, o réu é julgado culpado.
3. Se a parte do acusado for morta ou forçada à rendição, o réu é declarado inocente.
4. Se a parte do réu for morta ou for forçada à rendição, o réu é declarado culpado.
