Mas não há evidência de que ele tenha qualquer crença em um Deus pessoal, mas seu sistema de crenças é descrito adequadamente no texto da própria Bíblia OC como sendo um dos governantes agnósticos que deve respeitar a religião, mesmo que não acredite nela;

Religion is but the most ancient and honorable way in which men have striven to make sense out of God’s universe. Scientists seek the lawfulness of events. Você pode querer notar que Paulo não tem problemas em usar a religião para seus próprios fins (sua mãe era afinal uma Bene Gesserit, um grupo cuja principal profissão é projetar religiões para atender às suas necessidades) , nem ele tem qualquer problema em representar uma divindade. Ele também não tem nenhum problema com atos de blasfêmia, o que aponta para alguém que cresceu sem grandes ideais religiosos:
