É claro que Dumbledore não é o 100% certo 100% do tempo, mas ele afirma que suas suposições educadas acabam sendo verdadeiras com mais frequência do que não, e fora do universo ele é usado como uma fonte indiscutível de novas informações, então Acho que podemos confiar nas deduções dele aqui.
Lembre-se de que a principal motivação de Voldemort em visitar o barraco de Gaunt e matar seu pai não era encontrar objetos para transformar Horcruxes. Ele não sabia sobre o anel ou o medalhão até visitar a cabana Gaunt. Na verdade, ele nem sabia que os Charadas moravam perto! O principal a destacar nessa ordem de eventos é que havia realmente dois viagens que Voldemort fez à casa Gaunt. A primeira foi simplesmente uma viagem de pesquisa em família.
