I am working on a renovation and thinking about having a coffered ceiling. The room is 17x23 with a 10'5" from the subfloor to the joists.
The problem is that if I put a crown molding below the coffered ceiling, it might look weird because the coffered ceiling has a molding inside of it. So, if I put a big molding below the coffered ceiling it brings it down the wall a lot.
My other option would be to try to integrate the molding with the coffered ceiling, but I am not sure exactly how that would work, or even if it is possible.
The coffer depth needs to be about 6" to accommodate an indirect lighting ledge, so a shallow coffer is not an option.
Is there a way to integrate the molding into the coffers, or am I better off just having little or no molding below the coffers?
