Os Rapazes é baseado na história em quadrinhos de mesmo nome. Nos quadrinhos, eles têm uma equipe chamada The Seven, que é uma clara paródia de Liga da Justiça:

  • The Homelander (paródia do Superman)

  • Black Noir (paródia do Batman)

  • Queen Maeve (paródia da Mulher Maravilha)

  • Mister Marathon (paródia do Flash)

  • The Deep (paródia de Aquaman)

  • Jack From Jupiter (paródia de Martian Manhunter)

  • O Lamplighter (paródia de Lanterna Verde)

Mais tarde, o A-Train substituiu Mister Marathon, talvez um ângulo de Barry Allen / Wally West. Mais tarde, Starlight substituiu Lamplighter e ela provavelmente é o personagem original, em vez da paródia de JL, como discutido em esta resposta.

Os showrunners não queriam um super-herói alienígena no mundo que estavam criando e com a história que queriam contar. (Não é preciso dizer, mas há spoilers aqui.) Este artigo O site cbr.com inclui citações de uma entrevista da Entertainment Weekly e de um Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything).

De Entrevista EW (ênfase minha):

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, series co-creator of The Boys Erik Kripke explained the decision not to use Jack in the show, saying: “No gods from mythology, no aliens from other planets. It’s only humans who suddenly found themselves with these extraordinary abilities.”

Do Reddit AMA (ênfase minha):

We're trying to make the show as grounded as possible -- and the story to the public is that people were suddenly and spontaneously born with these powers. (That's not the truth of course, but Vought is pitching a Mutant like mythology to the public). To say one of their heroes is an alien kinda kills that myth. Jack always felt too fantastic for the world we were trying to create. Though I do love his ability to get that many penises into his butt.
