Quais são as diferenças entre os homens mortos de Dunharrow e os Nazgûl?

Irritantemente, essa é uma pergunta que parece ter uma resposta diferente nos livros e nos filmes. Eu farei o meu melhor para dar as duas interpretações.

Canon (os livros)

Na verdade, não há nenhuma indicação de que o Nazgûl estão morto; ao contrário, parecem estar muito vivos, mas suas formas físicas foram subsumidas pelo mundo invisível (ênfase minha)¹:

'A mortal, Frodo, who keeps one of the Great Rings, does not die, but he does not grow or obtain more life, he merely continues, until at last every minute is a weariness. E um rascunho inicial de Amizade descreve o efeito "espectrificação", embora a canonicidade dos primeiros rascunhos de Tolkien seja uma questão de preferência pessoal:

Embora não possamos ter certeza absoluta do que aconteceria se um Deadman e um Nazgûl derrubassem, eu estaria inclinado a sugerir que seria um impasse: o Nazgûl não seria capaz de derrotar o Dead Man, porque você pode mata uma alma, e o Homem Morto não seria capaz de derrotar os Nazgûl, porque eles não podem interagir com o mundo físico.

Irritantemente, Peter Jackson jogou a maioria dessas coisas ao vento, e a linha entre as duas é muito mais desfocada.

Na verdade, não está totalmente claro se Nazgûl de Jackson está vivo ou morto; quando Frodo está sofrendo da ferida de Morgul, Aragorn implica que eles não são:

Sabemos que eles são (ou podem ser) tangíveis, pois ainda montam cavalos e empunham espadas e outras coisas.

Frustrantemente, os homens mortos também parecem pelo menos quase tangíveis; Aragorn é capaz de bloquear a espada do rei dos mortos com Andúril:

E, é claro, os Mortos matam uma tonelada de Orcs na Batalha do Pelennor mais tarde.

Mas às vezes também são intangíveis; Legolas atira uma flecha no Rei dos Mortos, que passa por ele sem causar danos.

Não há realmente nenhuma explicação para nada disso, além da "história", por isso é difícil dizer com qualquer tipo de certeza o que aconteceria se um filme - Dead Man e um filme - Nazgûl entrassem em desacordo. Parece improvável que as armas dos Nazgûl sejam capazes de prejudicar os Mortos, já que isso parece ser uma habilidade específica do herdeiro de Isildur. Mas também não está claro que as armas fantasmagóricas dos Homens Mortos tenham algum efeito sobre os Nazgûl; nenhuma outra arma, exceto a tocha com a qual Aragorn apunhala uma delas na cara.

Quero dizer que o resultado seria o mesmo dos livros, mas digo que com muito mais apreensão. Existem tantas inconsistências aqui, é difícil fazer uma declaração definitiva.

Diferença entre Nazgûl e Dead Men of Dunharrow:

The Nazgul were once nine great Kings of Men, all of whom were given Rings of Power by Sauron. The Nine took them and used them to achieve great power, wealth and prestige in life. But as time passed, the Rings continued to exert their corrupting influence. The Rings eventually left the kings spectral, invisible to all but those who could see into the wraith world, and slaves to the will of Sauron. Their lives and power became bound to Sauron's via the One Ring; as Sauron grew or diminished in power, so to did the Nazgul. (Source)

The Army of the Dead, also known as the Dead Men of Dunharrow or Oathbreakers, were the ghosts of deceased Men of the White Mountains, cursed to remain in Middle-earth by Isildur after they abandoned their oath to aid him in the War of the Last Alliance. They haunted the caverns beneath the Dwimorberg, and the valley of Harrowdale that lay in its shadow, though they were said to appear in the valley only in times of trouble or death. (Source)

E sobre o confronto entre eles, eu diria Nazgul poderia (apenas minha opinião, é claro) derrotam Dead Men of Dunharrow, pois são individualmente muito mais fortes do que qualquer Dead Men e teriam usado algum tipo de feitiçaria em vez de apenas se envolver diretamente.
