O que significa NSC em um METAR?

Publicação WMO Nº 306 - Manual de Códigos - Volume I.1 - Parte A, Seção A, FM 15 METAR, FM 16 SPECI:

15.14.14 When no cloud below 1 500 metres (5 000 ft) or the highest minimum sector altitude, whichever is greater, and no cumulonimbus and no towering cumulus are forecast, and CAVOK is not appropriate, the abbreviation NSC shall be used.

Alguns países publicaram regras diferentes:

• Publicação WMO No. 306 - Manual On Codes - Volume II:
  • Países Baixos

    15.9.1.1 Abbreviation NSC: The abbreviation NSC shall not be used. As appropriate, clouds present at and above 5 000 ft also shall be reported.

  • Nova Zelândia

    15.9.1.1 Other than at Auckland (NZAA), Wellington (NZWN) and Christchurch (NZCH) NSC is not used, clouds are reported at all heights and SKC is used to report no cloud.

• O Manual de Normas de Observação do Clima de Superfície para o Canadá não possui NSC na definição METAR.

• AIP USA, GEN 1.7 - Diferenças das normas da ICAO, práticas e procedimentos recomendados, Anexo 3 - Serviço meteorológico da navegação aérea internacional, parte II, apêndice III:

  4.5.4 ... CAVOK and NSC are not used.

  E a Manual Meteorológico Federal No. 1 também não possui NSC na definição METAR.

NSC significa que não há nuvens significativas.
