Como fez Feitiço da morte, a Maldição Imperdoável da Morte, recebeu esse nome? A maioria dos encantamentos de feitiços soa semelhante ao seu efeito, com seus nomes influenciados pelo latim.

Contudo, Feitiço da morte, influenciado por 'Abra Cadabra', soa mais como uma frase tola que um mágico na festa de aniversário de uma criança diria antes de tirar um coelho da cartola, não muito parecido com um mago prestes a cometer um assassinato.

Além disso, ao contrário do resto, influenciado pelo latim, Abra Cadabra é realmente em hebraico, o que significa "vou criar enquanto falo".

JK Rowling respondeu em uma entrevista por que ela usou Avada Kedavra como encantamento para a maldição da morte. Ela respondeu que "É um feitiço antigo em aramaico que significa" deixe a coisa ser destruída "." então é o contrário da sua interpretação sobre o abracadabra.

Perfect Latin is not a very magical medium, is it? Does anyone know where avada kedavra came from? It is an ancient spell in Aramaic, and it is the original of abracadabra, which means “let the thing be destroyed”. Originally, it was used to cure illness and the “thing” was the illness, but I decided to make it the “thing” as in the person standing in front of me. I take a lot of liberties with things like that. I twist them round and make them mine.
