O Batman Beyond 2.0 faz parte da DCAU?

Então, eu peguei essas músicas da Barnes & Noble na semana passada, e leu através deles. Eles realmente parecem uma continuação de muitas histórias contadas no DC Animated Universe (DCAU), tiradas do Batman: The Animated Series e da Justice League Series, bem como de dois filmes da DCAU (Mask of the Phantasm and Return of the Joker) com o que parecia ser uma quantidade significativa de esforço para manter a precisão canônica com todas as fontes de referência. Finalmente, na maior parte dos casos, os quadrinhos tentam reproduzir o estilo de animação de Bruce Timm.

Dado tudo isso, eu tenho que perguntar, o DC tentou estender a DCAU com isso? É certamente parte da minha cabeça-canon agora, mas estou curioso para saber qual era a intenção original.

DC iniciou o projeto Batman Beyond em resposta a solicitações de fãs. É considerado parte da DCU.

Primeiro, aqui está um trecho de um Entrevista da Comics Alliance com a equipe criativa por trás do Batman Beyond 2.0 em seus esforços para manter a continuidade:

KYLE HIGGINS: We’re huge fans. The reason I took the job was because I was such a huge fan of the show. The DC Animated continuity was my introduction to DC Comics growing up. So I know that stuff inside and out, and I actually know it better than the books. So the opportunity to come in and continue Terry McGinnis’ story, taking him into the next stage of his superhero career (hence the “2.0”), was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.

COMICS ALLIANCE: Given that this is continuing on from the cartoon continuity, how much room are you given to explore and push the story to somewhere new? Are you concerned about readers getting lost, if they come straight from watching the series to reading the new comic?

ADAM SIEGEL: We did a certain amount of homework to make sure we knew where everybody ended up, the last time they were seen [on the cartoon], where their story was at that point, and then jump off from there.

KYLE HIGGINS: And there are certain elements in our series that are informed by Adam Beechen’s run on Batman Beyond [1.0], that happened before ours. And there are other things that Adam did that are more directly influenced by DC-proper continuity, and that’s where it gets a little more...what’s continuity and what’s not? So we always go back to the show.

Quanto às intenções do próprio DC, vale a pena notar que todo o projeto em quadrinhos Batman Beyond foi encomendado como resposta pelo ex-editor executivo do DC Dan DiDio para solicitações de fãs:

...the [Batman Beyond] mini-series resulted from fan requests for DC to bring the TV show characters to comics. "We’ve heard the fans, we’ve heard everyone’s interest," DiDio said of the mini-series.

Por fim, enquanto o projeto 2.0 respeita a cronologia do DCAU (como atestado por Higgins e Siegel), a série Beyond é vista como sentada dentro do quadrinho livro universo, ou seja, o DCU - veja esta descrição no Site da DC, por exemplo.

Batman Beyond 1.0 misturou alguns elementos não-DCUU DCU no enredo enquanto 2.0 tentou ficar mais nos confins da continuidade do DCAU. Dito isso, a intenção do projeto, do ponto de vista do DC, era enxertar Além no DCU, não necessariamente criar mais cânone para o DCAU.
