O Orville é uma ficção científica sobre a tripulação no navio pelo mesmo nome. Fora do universo, por que esse nome foi escolhido para o show (e o navio)? Parece ser o nome de uma pessoa, mas não há ninguém até agora que tenha esse nome depois disso. Além disso, não parece ter qualquer relação com o Star Trek , do qual ele empresta muito.

I was reading the David McCullough biography of the Wright brothers while I was writing the pilot, and early on there seemed to be some depiction of Orville as the "beta" brother. Seemed like a good fit for our midlevel craft.
