Por que a terra de Supergirl é 38?

Muito provavelmente, o número trinta e oito foi escolhido para marcar a estréia de Superman no ano de 1938.

Superman estreou nesta temporada em Arrowverse. Então, para associá-lo à estréia do Super-Homem da Era de Ouro, Terra 38 foi escolhido.

Além disso, nesta mesma Terra 38, Supergirl leva o nome de Kara em sua vida civil (nada de novo e não típico).

Como Wikia escreve no começo:

Home to a Superman that debuted in 1938 and a Batman that first appeared in 1939. ...

E sua continuação em Earth-3839 :

Earth-3839 is a reality in which Superman and Batman started their careers in the 1930s, and started families that would follow in their superhero footsteps all the way to the 30th Century.

[...] I'm not sure how the folks at The CW chose 38 as the number for the Supergirl universe, but it could be a nod to the fact Superman made his comic book debut in 1938 as the first major superhero. ... Supergirl wouldn't exist without Superman, so Earth-38 could be a solid way to honor the superhero who started it all.

Embora seja uma especulação, considero isso como uma explicação razoável do porquê eles escolheram 38.

O 38 é, aparentemente, uma referência / homenagem a 1938, ano em que o primeiro quadrinho do Super-Homem foi publicado.

According to Grant Morrison's guide to the DC Multiverse, Multiversity, Earth-38 is the world where John Byrne's series of minis called Generations takes place. What the hell is Generations? Well, the short version is that imagine a world where Superman first appeared in 1938 (when his comics first started getting published), and Batman followed in 1939 (again, with the comics). Now, on this world, they both aged and developed in real time, had kids, etc, and these stories follow them and their offspring through the present day and beyond.

Eu sinceramente pensei que era simplesmente correspondente à temporada e episódio de "The Flash", que mencionou (que foi Season 3, Episode 8, ou, mais especificamente ... 3-8).

Quando eles fazem isso como ovos de páscoa, pode ser por várias razões coincidentes. A análise do super-homem de 1938 está bem, mas aqui está outra idéia: Melissa Benoist é do Colorado (seu estado natal). O Colorado é o 38º estado dos EUA. Não tenho certeza se isso influenciou a decisão, mas é uma coincidência.
