Acho que podemos supor com segurança que Cho Chang era descendente do leste asiático, mesmo que ela fosse britânica de nascimento, do nome dela. Filhos de ascendência asiática oriental têm características físicas características distintas do leste asiático. O mesmo vale para os gêmeos Patil, que podemos supor que sejam indianos pelo nome deles e, portanto, terão pelo menos o tom característico da pele indiana.

Existem muitos caracteres em toda a série que são descritos como "brancos". Às vezes, é mais clara e explicitamente referindo-se à sua cor natural da pele, enquanto outras vezes está descrevendo uma emoção (por exemplo, raiva ou medo). Mesmo nos últimos casos, porém, acho que a terminologia provavelmente ainda é indicativa de sua cor de pele real (ou seja, eu não acho que você descreveria alguém que é negro como sendo "branco" quando irritado).
