E, como apontado por várias pessoas no tópico do fórum ao qual Valorum se refere em um comentário sobre a questão, a espada é chamada pela narração no final de Retorno do Rei , quando ele e os hobbits retornam ao Condado:
Then the hobbits suddenly realized that people had looked at them with amazement not out of surprise at their return so much as in wonder at their gear. They themselves had become so used to warfare and to riding in well-arrayed companies that they had quite forgotten that the bright mail peeping from under their cloaks, and the helms of Gondor and the Mark, and the fair devices on their shields, would seem outlandish in their own country. And Gandalf, too, was now riding on his tall grey horse, all clad in white with a great mantle of blue and silver over all, and the long sword Glamdring at his side.

Como ele retém a espada depois de sua morte e ressurreição nunca é diretamente explicado, mas não parece ser uma grande preocupação; sabemos que Gandalf ressuscitou em Zirakzigil (o mesmo lugar em que morreu), por isso não parece implausível que ele pudesse simplesmente ter se agarrado a ele quando Gwaihir o pegou e o levou para Lothlórien.

Como Matt Gutting me lembra nos comentários, embora ele carregue uma espada, Gandalf não tem muita utilidade nisso; apesar de estar presente em várias batalhas após sua ressurreição, Gandalf não vê praticamente nenhum combate:

Ele está ausente em grande parte da Batalha de Helm's Deep, mas quando ele aparece, ele parece assustar os atacantes sem realmente lutar com nenhum deles:
The hosts of Isengard roared, swaying this way and that, turning from fear to fear. Again the horn sounded from the tower. Down through the breach of the Dike charged the king's company. Down from the hills leaped Erkenbrand, lord of Westfold. Down leaped Shadowfax, like a deer that runs surefooted in the mountains. Há muito pouca luta durante o Cerco a Gondor (ao contrário dos filmes), e nenhum inimigo está dentro da cidade (onde Gandalf está) até que Grond destrua os portões. Mas, basicamente, imediatamente depois disso, Gandalf é chamado para salvar Faramir, e a batalha basicamente termina quando ele está nas Casas de Cura
- Os únicos confrontos que Gandalf enfrenta aqui são contra o Rei Bruxo, que sai sem lutar quando os Rohirrim chegam, e contra Denethor, que Gandalf desarma com magia

Apesar de estar presente na Batalha do Portão Negro, nem Gandalf nem Aragorn parecem fazer qualquer luta real:
All about the hills the hosts of Mordor raged. The Captains of the West were foundering in a gathering sea. The sun gleamed red, and under the wings of the Nazgûl the shadows of death fell dark upon the earth. Aragorn stood beneath his banner, silent and stern, as one lost in thought of things long past or far away; but his eyes gleamed like stars that shine the brighter as the night deepens. Upon the hill-top stood Gandalf, and he was white and cold and no shadow fell on him. The onslaught of Mordor broke like a wave on the beleaguered hills, voices roaring like a tide amid the wreck and crash of arms.
