O que há com o personagem Nigel?

Não há nenhuma informação canônica do porquê, mas parece ser uma tentativa bastante óbvia de criar um personagem que fosse uma combinação de ambos os irmãos Creevey.

Em uma entrevista posterior, um Hugh Mitchell (que interpretou Colin no filme CoS), não fez nenhuma luz:

Hugh says he was all right with Colin's fate in Deathly Hallows, and said his character was a fighter at the end, so it was fine for him to die; he is also indifferent towards the Nigel character in the movies.

Dado que ele está sendo entrevistado, parece que não foi devido a uma grande briga com o estúdio que fez com que o ator fosse substituído.

Uma coisa que confirma que Nigel era um substituto para Colin + Dennis Creevey é o seguinte:

1. Na entrevista LeakyCon 2012 , o ator que interpretou Nigel Wolpert (William Melling) discutiu que ele deveria ter morrido na Parte 2 da Relíquias da Morte (espelhando o destino de Colin, que é onde está a confirmação); mas eles escolheram não incluir isso no filme porque o ator cresceu tanto com as filmagens que ele não pareceu inocente o suficiente para o efeito que a cena deveria evocar.

   Then Neville nearly walked into him. He was one half of a pair that was carrying a body in from the grounds. Harry glanced down and felt another dull blow to his stomach: Colin Creevey, though underage, must have sneaked back just as Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle had done. He was tiny in death. 2. William Melling, em sua audição, foi convidado a comentar uma partida de futebol e deveria ser um personagem enérgico. Que definitivamente combina com Creeveys hiperativos.

3. Dennis Creevey começou no ano 4 e foi classificado:

   It was Colin Creevey, a third-year to whom Harry was something of a hero.
   'Hi, Colin,' said Harry warily.
   'Harry guess what? Guess what, Harry? My brother's starting! My brother Dennis!'
   'Er – good,' said Harry.
   'He's really excited!' said Colin, practically bouncing up and down in his seat. 'I just hope he's in Gryffindor! Keep your fingers crossed, eh, Harry?'

   Nigel também apareceu pela primeira vez no filme GoF.

Não tenho conhecimento de nenhuma informação sobre isso, mas especulação é porque é Hugh Mitchell , o ator que interpretou Colin Creevey, tornou-se massivo quando os últimos filmes foram feitos . Colin sempre deveria parecer muito pequeno e jovem para os personagens principais. Mesmo quando ele está em seu sexto ano, no último livro, ele é descrito como minúsculo:
