Quando eles deixam o navio pela primeira vez ... em São Francisco, eles andam para cima / para baixo nas escadas / elevador do navio ... nós vemos os trilhos da escada Mas o navio está encapotado!

O campo de camuflagem parece se estender ao redor da extensão normal do navio. Quando os objetos se projetam desta silhueta, eles se tornam visíveis. Isso é explicitamente confirmado na novelização do filme:

For a minute Javy considered jumping out of the truck, but Ben had it going nearly fifty. Javy tried to see behind them in the side mirror, but the light and the ramp had vanished, and he could make out only shadows.
