O rosto de Sidious aparentemente parecia assim antes de ser atingido por um raio em canon, e definitivamente fazia em Legends.

Na série de quadrinhos de Darth Maul , que acontece antes do Episódio I, Maul conversa com Darth Sidious, que parece já se parecer com o imperador pós-duelo:

Portanto, há evidências de que Sidious já parecia assim, e a história em quadrinhos parece implicar que esse é o rosto "verdadeiro" de Sidious que ele só mostra para Darth Maul.
