Me desculpe, eu tenho que misturar uma pequena linha de filme com O Hobbit do romance.

Na The Fellowship of the Ring de Peter Jackson, Lady Galadriel, ao narrar o início do filme, menciona que o One Ring "abandonou Gollum" e o anel é mostrado quicando um leve declive , como se estivesse se afastando. Eu percebo que isso não é canon .

Em O Hobbit , veja como Bilbo encontra o anel; é bem mundano!

[He] crawled along for a good way, till suddenly his hand met what felt like a tiny ring of cold metal lying on the floor of the tunnel. It was a turning point in his career, but he did not know it. He put the ring in his pocket almost without thinking; certainly it did not seem of any particular use at the moment.

Mais tarde no livro, Gollum tem seu freakout:

Suddenly, [Bilbo] heard a screech. It sent a shiver down his back. Gollum was cursing and wailing away in the gloom, not very far off by the sound of it. He was on his island, scrabbling here and there, searching and seeking in vain.

'Where iss it? Where iss it?' Bilbo heard him crying. "Losst it is, my precious, lost, lost! Curse us and crush us, my precious is lost!'

O próprio Gollum perdeu o anel na caverna? O Um Anel, ouvindo o chamado de seu mestre Sauron, conseguiu se mover através do lago de Gollum até a terra?

Presumivelmente, em a forma como o anel abandonou Isildur : tornando-se mais solto enquanto Gollum estava se movendo através desse túnel e, assim, ativamente "se perdendo".

Eu não tenho o livro aqui, mas antes ou depois que Gollum percebe que o anel está faltando, ele se lembra de ter ido aos túneis naquele dia, em busca de uma deliciosa Orc-ling para fazer um lanche. O anel afrouxou e escorregou enquanto ele voltava para o lago.

De O Senhor dos Anéis livro 1, Capítulo 2: A Sombra do Passado :

"The Ring of Power looks after itself, Frodo. It may slip off treacherously, but its keeper never abandons it... It was not Gollum, Frodo, but the Ring itself that decided things. The Ring left him...

"There was more than one power at work, Frodo. The Ring was trying to get back to its master. It had slipped from Isildur's hand and betrayed him; then when a chance came it caught poor Deagol, and he was murdered and after that Gollum, and it had devoured him. It could make no further use of him: he was too small and mean; and as long as it stayed with him he would never leave his deep pool again. So now, when its master was awake once more and sending out his dark thought from Mirkwood, it abandoned Gollum."

Então há a motivação para por que o anel deixou Gollum: Sauron estava chamando, e Gollum era inútil. Quanto a como , sabemos de o Hobbit que Gollum ocasionalmente deixou sua piscina escura, usando o anel, para que ele pudesse se esgueirar em orcs (chamados "goblins" na minha copiar) e matá-los para comer. Provavelmente foi em uma dessas excursões que o anel saiu de Gollum, razão pela qual Bilbo achou tão longe da piscina.

Sobre o mecanismo pelo qual o anel abandonou Gollum, do mesmo capítulo:

"[Bilbo] had found out that the [ring] needed looking after; it did not seem always of the same size or weight; it shrank or expanded in an odd way, and might suddenly slip off a finger where it had been tight."

Foi assim que o anel originalmente traiu Isildur, e teria sido assim que ele finalmente saiu de Gollum: expandindo no momento oportuno e caindo direto de seu dedo.
