O único exemplo de Deletrius sendo lançado que vemos é quando Amos Diggory o usa para fazer desaparecer o fantasma de um feitiço criado pelo Prior Incantato:
'Prior Incantato!' roared Mr Diggory.
Harry heard Hermione gasp, horrified, as a gigantic serpent-tongued skull erupted from the point where the two wands met, but it was a mere shadow of the green skull high above them, it looked as though it was made of thick grey smoke: the ghost of a spell.
'Deletrius!' Mr Diggory shouted, and the smoky skull vanished in a wisp of smoke.

Não há indicação de cânone de que esta é uma magia geralmente destrutiva, ou adequada para uso em combate, ou qualquer outra coisa que não seja o "botão de parada" do Prior Incantato.
O exemplo de Deletrius sendo usado em O Cálice de Fogo não tem nenhuma semelhança com a morte de Bellatrix no livro.
