A questão é auto-explicativa: quantas batalhas ocorreram na Guerra do Anel e como elas foram chamadas?
Lemos apenas algumas batalhas no texto principal de O Senhor dos Anéis - Helm's Deep, Isengard, Pelennor Fields, Morannon, Bywater e talvez mais alguns. Os apêndices nos falam de outros, como a Batalha sob as árvores. Mas alguém compilou uma lista de todos os compromissos?
Isso depende muito de quando você considera a Guerra dos Elfos e Sauron parte da Guerra do Anel. Eu pessoalmente faço; Penso que "a Guerra do Anel" abrange toda a história do Anel, com um longo período desde o final da Segunda Era até o início do Terceiro, que passou suavemente de "paz" para "guerra fria" e "guerra quente" "
Você verá que a maioria das batalhas não tem nomes. Vou anotá-los quando puder, mas, caso contrário, deixarei em paz.
Este conflito é canonicamente chamado "A Guerra dos Elfos e Sauron".
A primeira grande batalha é o ataque de Sauron a Eregion:
When Sauron learned of the repentance and revolt of Celebrimbor his disguise fell and his wrath was revealed; and gathering a great force he moved over Calenardhon (Rohan) to the invasion of Eriador in the year 1695. When news of this reached Gil-galad he sent out a force under Elrond Half-elven; but Elrond had far to go, and Sauron turned north and made at once for Eregion. The scouts and vanguard of Sauron's host were already approaching when Celeborn made a sortie and drove them back; but though he was able to join his force to that of Elrond they could not return to Eregion, for Sauron's host was far greater than theirs, great enough both to hold them off and closely to invest Eregion. At last the attackers broke into Eregion with ruin and devastation, and captured the chief object of Sauron's assault, the House of the Mírdain, where were their smithies and their treasures.

Houve uma batalha no rio Lhûn em defesa dos portos cinzentos; essa foi realmente a primeira vitória élfica no conflito (em grande parte graças aos númenorreans):
Gil-galad and the Númenóreans were holding the Lhûn in desperate defence the Grey Havens, when in the very nick of time the great armament of Tar-Minastir came in; and Sauron's host was heavily defeated and driven back.

All living things were divided in that day, and some of every kind, even of beasts and birds, were found in either host, save the Elves only. They alone were undivided and followed Gil-galad. Of the Dwarves few fought upon either side; but the kindred of Durin of Moria fought against Sauron.

Then Gil-galad and Elendil passed into Mordor and encompassed the stronghold of Sauron; and they laid siege to it for seven years, and suffered grievous loss by fire and by the darts and bolts of the Enemy, and Sauron sent many sorties against them. But at the last the siege was so strait that Sauron himself came forth; and he wrestled with Gil-galad and Elendil, and they both were slain, and the sword of Elendil broke under him as he fell. But Sauron also was thrown down, and with the hilt-shard of Narsil Isildur cut the Ruling Ring from the hand of Sauron and took it for his own. Then Sauron was for that time vanquished, and he forsook his body, and his spirit fled far away and hid in waste places; and he took no visible shape again for many long years.

Depois disso, existem muitas pequenas batalhas e escaramuças que podem ou não ser consideradas parte da Guerra do Anel. O Apêndice B nos diz que há muitos problemas com os Orcs no início da Terceira Era, mas não estou considerando essa parte da Guerra do Anel; Orcs vão Orc, afinal. A guerra contra o rei bruxo também não vou contar, embora você possa argumentar convincentemente. Em vez de abordar isso, vou começar a cuidar novamente do TA 2951, quando Sauron se declarar abertamente novamente. Infelizmente, não há muito a relatar. c. TA 3000, temos um relato vago de que "a sombra de Mordor se prolonga", mas não sabemos se isso significa batalhas ou escaramuças.
Finalmente, no TA 3018, as coisas melhoram1. Como Matt Gutting ressalta nos comentários, se você considera que o conflito na Terceira Era é separado do material da Segunda Era, esse provavelmente é o melhor candidato para o início da Guerra do Anel. Há muitos conflitos registrados no Conto dos Anos. Os mais significativos incluem três ataques a Lórien, as batalhas de Mirkwood e Dale, duas batalhas dos Fords of Isen e todas as coisas que precisamos seguir nos livros:

Há uma breve batalha no Morannon, após uma disputa bastante desastrosa com a Boca de Sauron. O Apêndice B descreve como:
