What does C-137 mean in Rick and Morty?

Before it was revealed that the Rick and Morty we follow in the show are each from different dimensions, "Dimension C-137" was thought, including by Morty himself, to refer to the Cronenberged dimension where our Morty originated and the first six episodes of the TV series took place.

Also known as Rick C-137, Rick Sanchez is both an undeniable genius and a misanthropic jerk. The writers of the show have been careful to reveal Rick's past in pieces, leaving much of his background a mystery. Does Rick C-137 have a Morty? It's long been assumed that our Morty is also from C-137, the dimension that Rick and Morty accidentally Cronenberged in “Rick Potion #9.” That was never the case. Our Rick is from C-137, which saw Beth die as a child. Morty is from the unknown Cronenberg dimension.

Who is Morty C-137?

Rick Sanchez, also known as Rick (C-137), is one of the titular two main protagonists (alongside Morty Smith) and one of the five main characters of the science fiction adult animated comedy series Rick and Morty. The surprise first episode of Season 3 of the hit Adult Swim series reminded fans that Rick C-137 is the Rickest Rick of them all, which is why all the other Ricks (including the Council of Ricks) hate him so much.

Why is Rick called C-137?

Why is Rick so mean to Morty?

Rick's mistreatment of Morty often boils down to Rick's own nihilism, in which he insists that he doesn't care about Morty, the wellbeing of the universe, or even his own life. In most cases, Rick encourages Morty to adopt a similarly detached and uncaring attitude as well. Which Rick is real Rick? It seems likely that C-137 Rick, the "real" Rick, showed up at the end with the rest of the Smith family in his ship. Not only do they seem very familiar with Space Beth, who we last saw at the end of season four, but the fact they're travelling back from space appears to prove they're the OG Smiths.
