The first Brethren Court with the help of Davy Jones, trapped Calypso and bound her in human form as Tia Dalma. Since Calypso is the sea goddess, this tamed the seas, even seeming to give the pirates control over them. Presumably, freeing Calypso from her human form returned that power to her.

They are servants of the sea goddess Calypso. As she nears the purgatory land that is Davy's Locker, she summons the crabs to bring the Black Pearl to the coast. Why is Carnage red?

The red hue and unstable, fluid-like design of the character is meant to represent its fusion with Kasady's blood. This strange connection to the color red and its association with blood goes well beyond Carnage's origins. Is Carnage stronger than Venom?
