Are kobolds playable?
Kobolds are a common enemy fought in low-level combat encounters. These small, reptilian humanoids became a playable race in Volo's Guide to Monsters. With the addition of Kobolds as a playable race in D&D 5e, there is a whole new avenue for roleplaying and storytelling that playing a monster brings to the table.
Can kobolds see in the dark?

Conveniently, that preserves the lore of the dragon-worshipping kobold. Kobolds try to inspire fear in others. Are gnolls playable? All the other races mentioned (that listed as well) - aasimars, dragonborn, gith, and goblinoids - are all playable races that have been published in multiple books. Gnolls are the only ones that really stood out to me in that section because it acted like you could play them.
Are gnolls fiends?
Given the lore that surrounds gnolls (they are literally born out of hyenas bloated from eating corpses left behind by Yeenoghu), they absolutely should be fiends in the Forgotten Realms, a classification reserved for demons, devils, and other extraplanar forces of evil. Do gnolls eat people? Gnolls are feral, hyena-headed humanoids that attack without warning, slaughtering their victims and devouring their flesh.
