Background. Before he became a White Walker, the Night King was a First Man who was captured by Children of the Forest, Leaf among them. Leaf pressed a dragonglass dagger into his chest, causing his eyes to turn blue and turning him into the first of the White Walkers.

Since Sam saw firsthand the enormity of the White Walkers and their army, he could spread the truth which would result in more fear. Essentially, the White Walkers could have wanted Sam to travel back to the Wall and inform the Night's Watch of what was coming. Can White Walkers talk? Yes White Walkers can talk. In the show the language they use is called Skroth. It makes a sound like crackling ice similar to the books and we also see a White Walker communicate to the wights and other White Walkers when it screams near Sam.

What happened to casters sons?
In the novels as of A Dance with Dragons, there has been no evidence so far on what actually happens to the babies, though Craster's wives believe that the baby boys given by Craster to the Others are, in turn, transformed into new Others. Old Nan's tale's simply state that the Others feed human children to the wights. Are the White Walkers gone for good? Game of Thrones has finally come to it's end, and as all had hoped and expected, the humans managed to defeat the white walkers, wights, and the Night King himself, once and for all.
How did Bran become the 3 eyed raven?
Then he was violently defenestrated for the crime of witnessing some brotherly-sisterly love. The path that Bran took since that moment took him North of the Wall and gave him the job of the Three-Eyed Raven. Is Bran the Night King? The Night King is a show-only character, he doesn't exist in the books (at least not yet). Bran being the Night King would be a gigantic step away from the source material. Like, so big it changes the entire story.
Are White Walkers in the books?
