Do temporary hit points expire?
Unless a feature that grants you temporary hit points has a duration, they last until they're depleted or you finish a long rest.
Does losing temp HP count as taking damage?
Temporary hit points aren't actual hit points; they are a buffer against damage, a pool of hit points that protect you from injury. Losing temporary hit points does not mean you take damage. Does Dark One's blessing stack? [...] they can't be added together. If you have temporary hit points and receive more of them, you decide whether to keep the ones you have or to gain the new ones.
Is fiendish Vigour good?
Player-wise, Fiendish Vigor can be a good choice for players who like to be on the frontlines and engage in close combat. You can communicate telepathically with your familiar and perceive through your familiar's Senses as long as you are on the same plane of existence. Can undead get temp HP? As written, you even gain the temporary hit points if the target is a construct or an undead.
Does temp HP cause concentration checks?
Temp hit points still count as damage and you take concentration checks when you take damage. To my knowledge, the only thing that stops the concentration check is the Abjuror wizard's Arcane Ward. That stops actual damage. How does arcane ward work? The ward has a hit point maximum equal to twice your wizard level + your Intelligence modifier. Whenever you take damage, the ward takes the damage instead. If this damage reduces the ward to 0 hit points, you take any remaining damage. While the ward has 0 hit points, it can't absorb damage, but its magic remains.
How do death saving throws work?
Damage at 0 Hit Points: If you take any damage while you have 0 Hit Points, you suffer a death saving throw failure. If the damage is from a critical hit, you suffer two failures instead. If the damage equals or exceeds your hit point maximum, you suffer Instant Death.
